How Pinterest works has a couple of levels. On its simplest level you set up boards (digital bulletin or vision boards) and pin pictures to it as you find them on the Internet. This makes it a visual bookmarking system too. The last I checked the women users outnumbered men but the gap is decreasing. Common things that are pinned are recipes, quotes, DIY projects, fashion, beauty items, etc.

How Pinterest works will vary depending on the user. Some people like the social aspect and will follow people and repin their pins. Some pin things for future reference, while others pin things based on projects/topics. Some use Pinterest as an escape and just enjoy the eye candy. Frequency varies too, some daily for a few minutes, others once or twice a week for an hour or two and others just occasionally.

How Pinterest works for business, is that it increases traffic and brand awareness. Currently I’m finding that it also helps with reach on Facebook as well. The other nice thing is that the life of a pin is much longer than a post on other social media platforms. The video below explains it a little more. After you watch the video, I’d love to get your feedback.
